1925-1931 Transmission Main Drive Bearing Retainer (with elastomer seal).

This aluminum part remedies the problem of warp in the original pot-metal retainer and the elastomer seal prevents grease from leaking out of the front of the transmission. Comes with gasket.

Caution: Some transmission main drive shafts have a bleed hole forward of the main drive bearing. This hole appears to be somewhat random in its location. If the hole is present and located such that any part of it is within the range of 7/16" to 1/2" from the face of the main drive bearing, it is not recommended to use this retainer with seal.

1923-1931 Transmission Shaft Rebuild Kit

Due to bushing and shaft wear the gears in the transmission are allowed to move away from each other, increasing the load on the gears and causing excessive noise. This kit contains a hardened and ground countershaft and reverse idler shaft, countershaft bushings, reverse idler bushings and the main drive gear bushing. The expansion plug and cotter pins required for assembly are also included. All parts are identical to the originals but with sintered bronze bushings for long life. 1927-33 uses a U-J rear packing o-ring seal #2785 instead of U-J rear packing cork seal #2279 Use Part#5151A.  Otherwise if you just want the o-ring seal separately, please order below:

 

 1927-1933 U-Joint Ball Packing (Slip Seal)

These early Chevrolets are notorious for leaking oil. This elastomer O-ring seal, which replaces the original cork, will help prevent transmission grease from leaking out of the U-joint enclosure. Replaces GM part number 348132.

1925-1931 Rear Axle Inner Seal Assembly (with modern elastomer seal).

These seals prevent the differential grease from reaching the axle outer bearing. If the seal fails, the grease passes through the bearing and through the outer seal (which is just felt) onto the rear brake drum. These assemblies are improved from the originals by having modern elastomer seals pressed in.

Propeller Shafts

Offered below are newly manufactured Billy Possum Brand propeller shafts: These shafts are made of tempered aircraft alloy steel for long life. These are special Order and will be either drop shipped from supplier if possible or 2-3 week delivery time if not.

Because additional charges will be necessary for delivery, this must be put on an order request. We will get back to you on how much shipping charges will be. Also, for these drop shipped parts, My supplier does not let me drop-ship to California. International Buyers: My supplier does not drop ship to you either, but if the costs are not too far fetched-we may be able to work around that problem.

1926-1929 Propeller Shaft Installation Kit (bushing, bushing dowel, seal, lock nut, pinion key & pinion nut). Replaces worn steel and bronze bushing assembly with a new steel and sintered bronze bushing assembly. Original cork seal with washers is replaced with a steel case rubber lipped seal to prevent transmission oil from migrating to the rear end. In addition to a new key and pinion nut, a new lock nut is is included to insure that the pinion thrust bearing is locked securely to the drive shaft.
