Notes on Rear Main Seal: Seal performance varies for the rubber rear mains seals if the engine block has been roughly machined. This is not always the best choice for the older cars where machining techniques were not yet refined. If you are not sure how well machined your block is, we recommend going to rope seal.  If the car has good machining and you are putting the rear main seal in chassis, rubber seals are easier to place than the rope seals.
